Chapter 2: Season of the unwelcomed Guest.

Bonjour again folks!

Hope all of you are in good health unlike many others I know ..( including myself, if you were to consider this blog a week back!) who are/were captured by the eerie dark and irritating...wait for it...  FLU VIRUS!
It's on a roll to be honest ( the flu ) and it really isn't in the mood to spare any living soul. In fact there are so many varieties of this flu that I think even the doctors have lost count... birdflu, swineflu, normal flu.. . I dont understand why people are so worried of  Weapons of Mass destruction and the likes.. the flu kills more people anyway..( that too with a lot more suffering..!!!) than these WMD's!! Infact.. i think even the terrorists can use this as their main weapon, if they were to bottle it up and use it as the bullet contents!  ( oh god.. did i just become part of a clan that advises the terrorists?!... oops!)
I was attacked around 2 weeks back and it did everything to make me wonder if life was worth living if my nose was blocked and my mouth had to do the breathing bit for me, let me mention here that God seriously did make the mouth for other purposes than breathing, the blastid thing does a horrible job at it!! All I can really say is.. if you have been out and about ( ok guys.. not in any wrong sense here!! ;) and you feel a tingly itch in your throat.. or a continuous form of sneezing or nose leak and/or accompanied by a throbbing headache... then VOILA!!! (now is when they should use the tadaaaaaaa music) the flu is here to stay for a short holiday!!! My advice and trust me people.. this has worked wonders for me ( that's if you aren't one of  them kind who thinks that the only cure to any sickness, be it small or big, is by going to the clinic/hospital!) would be the following :

1) hot water gargles with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder at least twice a day, the more the better. In case you think you have more of a throat infection coming up then try hot water with Betadine solution ( available at pharmacies), that should really help. The key is to ensure the water is not too hot that you burn yourself and not too mild that you feel you can drink it. It has to hurt the throat a little while you gargle. :)
2) drink plenty of fluids ( NONE COLD!). Get as much Vitamin C as you can into your system.. hence fresh orange juice would be a good option. Drink any form of tea .. but I suggest you try and avoid sweetening the tea too much. In my experience, coffee just makes the headache worse... so stay off that.. but that's just me. Some people have it the other way around i.e more coffee and tea is their killer. Soup is an unsaid medication to the common cold.. so don't underestimate the power of the SOUP! Also you could try boiled milk with a little honey if you wish.
P.s.. a random tip to those who don't mind the use of alcohol.. try a warm glass of brandy with pepper.. !! :)
3) Steam Inhalation.. the best treatment for that blocked nose and congested throat. Try to use the kettle if you don't have the steam inhaler and if you're scared of the kettle, do it old school.. get a blanky or a bedspread .. and cover your head while you bend down towards a bowl of boiling water. Inhale as much steam as you can before you remove the cover over your head :)
4) Get plenty of rest! For the working class, try to relax your eyes, for at least 5 mins, away from the gaze of the computer screen. If possible take a stroll and say hello to your colleagues!and go splash some water on your face to feel a bit fresh!.... For the non working people, like myself, sit in bed and listen to some music or just go to sleep! Tv and laptop and all those things just tire your eyes further, increasing that throbbing headache!
5) last but not least.. (this is optional) .. use that TLC policy... (Total Love n Care) ..get as much love, care and pampering as possible.. it sure does speed up my recovery process!! :) Cuddle to your loved ones.. mum, dad, husband, boyfriend,grandparents.. your warm teddy, your pamela anderson poster ? ( or does that induce fever?!), the new nintendo wii? i dont know.. your choice.... whoever it is you feel safe with.. or rather.. whoever it is you feel comfortable drooling over after you have managed to fall asleep cuddling to  them! :D

I know these are tried and tested and probably even clichéd .. but these home remedies work like a charm.. well usually.. and if it doesn't then you definitely know that you need to seek help and get yourself on some antibiotics!

So folks, that time of the year is here.. the "Achoooo" and the "cough cough" and the "ouch i cant speak" are all here for a visit.. and you're the host... how do u want to treat it? That's upto you.. but be safe and though you know it will be back for another visit sometime when summer begins, try and give it a smooth transition back to its homeland.. pamper it with a hot spa and some sauna treatment for a while .. and if it gets too irritating.. then folks... there's just one entertainment plan... take it for a drive to the nearest doctor!

That's all for tonight people.... the winter is approaching.. so enjoy the strolls out at the beach and take care of yourselves...
J... over and Out!

(P.s.. below is a little something I found quite funny...)

Chapter 1: My first post!!

Hello Readers!!

Welcome to my blog and welcome to my first post!

During my childhood socializing had a totally different meaning to what it has today, or so I feel. We, as kids, were taken to parties/ family gatherings/maybe to the park or even to the beach? This was a medium wherein the parents ended up talking to other parents enhancing their social circle whilst the kids were... well no big guesses.. playing around to their hearts content. Though it may have seemed monotonous after a while, it did have a certain "human" touch to it.These days socializing has been reduced to a version less "human" (though this may be argued upon). Virtual socializing or "virtualizing" , if I may, would be a word that may ring a bell to many, including myself. Blogs, chat mediums, social networking sites such as the ever so famous "Facebook", Twitter and the likes have caught on to our lives to such an extent that it is hard to understand if it is doing the human society good or bad! From minute nothings to ground breaking news, all are posted on such networking sites even before they hit the newspapers.. ( I got to know Micheal Jackson died because my fiance found out on Facebook or Twitter!!). Dont get me wrong, im not here to advocate the mission of abolishing  this medium of interaction, but rather here to reiterate how powerful this medium has become and is still becoming! Which brings me to the reason why I decided to join the bandwagon and create a blog! In addition, deciding to take up further studies when you have a secure full time job may be a risk that many would not be willing to take, but I did.. the result of which ... is having a masters degree and being unemployed! (Dont look at me... its those big idiots in the U.S.A that tampered with my huge lifetime plan and presented the whole world with a gift called RECESSION!)..  This gives me a lot of time on my hands to write, beyond other things like finding a decent job in this crisis stricken world and so ... Jalebi Junction was created!

Many may wonder as to why "Jalebi Junction?".. the reason for me was quite simple.. Jalebi is a South Asian fried sweet dish, orange in color that is sweet but has a tangy sour taste to it as well. Junction is a place where 2 or more things come together. So I thought.. "Hmm.. what will you be writing about?".. and it occurred to me that I will be writing about everything and nothing, abstract and concrete, anything that will occur to me.. so it could be something sweet or/and something sour and ill be joining those thoughts to form my so called blog.. and hence.. Jalebi Junction.. where I am able to express anything and everything .. unlimited! :)

There you go my first post! A good lengthy version of why I bothered to start a blog and why i called it...what i called it :)!
That's all for now folks.. but do keep reading.. will be back with more.. next time more hip and happening!
Till we meet again... its J.. over and OUT!
